A comprehensive AC check should include:
Inspect air filters
Dirty air filters affect the quality of your indoor air. If dirty upon inspection, they will be cleaned or replaced
Evaluate proper airflow
Make sure that the proper amount of airflow is flowing through the system. Too much or too little will put added strain on your system, causing it to function improperly
Lubricate AC system
This helps all the components function properly and work together
Assess equipment condition
A quick overview of all the equipment to make sure everything looks good and is running correctly
Look for pest infestations
Oftentimes, pests will chew on wires connected to your HVAC unit, which will break the unit
Inspect line set and connections for leaks
Evaluate duct seal at unit and secure panels
Inspect ductwork for air leaks and energy loss
If there is a leak in your ductwork, the air will escape through the leak and your home will not cool efficiently
A comprehensive furnace check should include:
Inspecting the vent system and air intake grilles, removing any blockages
Blockages in the vent system will keep the warm air from spreading evenly through your home
Checking the heat exchanger for signs of damage or corrosion
The heat exchanger is the part of the furnace that heats your home’s air. If there is any corrosion to the unit, it will not properly heat the air
Examining and cleaning the blower, removing any debris
Removing debris from the blower will allow the furnace to function smoothly
Checking the blower motor and testing its amp draw
If the blower motor is not pulling the correct amount of amp, it will use more energy than needed and raise your monthly bills.
